LWT English
Accent Training
What to know
If you are considering accent reduction training as the next focus in your English language studies, then you have already come so far. But whilst you may have a rich vocabulary, a firm grasp of the correct grammatical structure and an impressive level of fluency, there is still something missing. Perhaps your accent results in one too many misunderstandings, you are tired of repeating yourself, and this is having a negative effect on your confidence.
Don’t panic, you are certainly not alone. Due to the range of vowel and consonant sounds, the unusual spelling to pronunciation relationship, not to mention the wide variety between English dialects, mastering an accent can seem like a daunting prospect.
With LWT English, you are in good hands. We will go through a simple, step-by-step process that will bring you ever-closer to your target, RP accent. We will identify the sound substitutions you are making from your native language and work towards replacing them with the full range of sounds and intonation that will help you sound like a UK local.
How does it work?
There are three key areas of focus when studying a new accent:
-
Sounds: we will start introducing the 44-sounds of English into our sessions, one at a time, beginning with the high-value sounds first, or the sounds most important to your progress.
-
Linking sounds: we will examine the sounds used to link words smoothly and fluently.
-
Intonation: we will look at pitch, rhythm and stress to help convey meaning and emotion.
These classes are all conducted online, in a one-on-one setting. As such, study times are flexible and classes can be tailored to suit your personal needs.
All study materials such as PDFs, audio files and video files are given at the end of each lesson at no extra charge.
